Taking place on February 4, 2012 (doors @ 6:30PM) at the Alexandra Centre in Calgary, AB, Unity Art Festival is sure to be an amazing event unlike any other! For one night only, Calgary artists, photographers, dancers, musicians, and hair designers unite to give you a reason to celebrate. Let’s celebrate the diverse artistic talent prevalent in our city, and let’s celebrate the ability to unite these talents as one to truly give back!! Proceeds of this event will be given to the National Music Centre project right here in Calgary Alberta, as well as to Cornerstone Foundation’s initiative to feed 150+ orphans in Thailand.
The Classical Guitar Society of Calgary Presents:Dale Kavanagh
Canadian-born Dale Kavanagh is one of the guitar world’s most gifted interpreters. She has been a top prize-winner in competitions in Spain Italy Switzerland and Finland She has received superlative reviews in many international magazines Dale studied at Acadia University, Dalhousie University, the University of Toronto, and the Banff Centre, then completed her graduate studies at the Musik kademie der Stadt Basel Switzerland. Dale performs internationally as a soloist, in concertos with orchestra and is a regular recitalist and teacher at music festivals. She has given over 1000 recitals in more than 40 countries, and is also part of the Amadeus Guitar Duo with German guitarist Thomas Kirchhoff. Ms. Kavanagh is Professor of Guitar at the Musikhochschule in Detmold, Germany, was “Musician in Residence” at Acadia University from 2003 to 2010, and is on Faculty at the “Koblenz International Guitar Academy.”

VOICESCAPES PRESENTS “THE LIMBS OF OUR JESUS” – A CYCLE OF SEVEN CANTATAS
Calgary’s Early Music Voices Concert Series presents VoiceScapes and guests with conductor Claude LaPalme in Buxtehude’s moving meditation on the body of Christ.
By turns haunting and beautiful, then playful and uplifting, this masterpiece of early German baroque repertoire will transport you and delight you with its variety of melodies and musical textures.
Pre-concert talk will take place at 7:30 p.m. and the concert at 8:00 p.m.

Theatre Junction GRAND 100th Anniversary Celebration
Join Theatre Junction GRAND on Febuary 4th from 2pm-2am as they celebrate the GRAND Theatre's 100th Anniversary, presenting different artists every hour! This showcase of creativity will feature over 20 artists from across the vast landscape of Calgary's cultural communities. Some of Calgary's most popular, and respected, artists will be performing throughout the party, including:
Dan Vacon (The Dudes), DJ PUMP (Eh! Team, DMC Champ), Wax Romeo (Plant, Bigfoot & Homebreakin' Records), Samantha Savage Smith (Arts & Crafts), Ivan Rankic (Homebreakin' Records), live painting by Mandy Stobo (of Bad Portraits), Tim Williams, Ill Movements hip-hop collective and many, many more! For the GRAND finale, VINYL RITCHIE (Redbull 3styles World Championships & Shambhala music festival headliner) will be playing and all-vinyl DJ set.
There will also be a Blues Jam (led by Tim Williams & brought to you by the Blues Can), a Sled Island showcase, a break-dancing & hop-hop jam, a theatre preview of Theatre Junction GRAND's next production Attempts on Her Life, a Calgary Fashion photobooth, live dance performances, building tours and MORE!
The whole event is FREE before 10.30pm and all ages are welcome before 8pm!
