You are invited to the fourth of The New Gallery’s (TNG) monthly Wine with Art Lectures to be held Friday, September 24, 2010 at 4pm (the lecture begins at 5pm).

This edition of the Wine with Art Lecture Series will feature Dick Averns, artist, writer, ACAD instructor discussing the current TNG exhibition Contours in the Crosshairs by Nancy Nisbet. Dick, with his passion for introducing people to contemporary art, will explore the themes of automobiles and nature in Nancy’s work, and how her work relates to our ever-changing world and ourselves.

The Wine with Art Lecture Series aims to promote contemporary art to broader audiences within Calgary; each presentation engages the public with the Gallery’s exhibitions and provides easy access points to understanding and appreciating contemporary visual art. These events run between 4 and 6pm on the last Friday of each month, and are designed to be a convenient break for downtown commuters who are interested in contemporary art and culture. TNG also makes the lectures available online as podcasts.

In addition to the art and lectures TNG has partnered with The Bistro in Art Central, The Cellar, and Summit Fine Wines to provide a selection of hors d’oeuvres, and boutique wines for lecture attendees.
