Event Description:
The EPCOR CENTRE for the Performing Arts is proud to partner with Artcity to present Uttered Lightly, a special visual arts exhibit. In an innovative effort to project his words and provoke thought, artist Ben Skinner has created a light installation spelling out poetic words and phrases in fluorescent lights. Stop at the Ledge Gallery and take a few moments to become en-lightened!
Ben Skinner Bio:
Ben Skinner grew up in Petrolia, a small oil town in Southern Ontario. He graduated with a BFA in Interdisciplinary Fine Art from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design in 2000 and with an MFA in Art & Technology from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2003. Text is a reoccurring element in many of his works that can range from snowballs in a chain-link fence to hand cut wood veneer inlay. These short statements often shift between interpretations while winking at the viewer. Ben lives and works in Vancouver, BC.

The 18th Artcity Festival is Calgary’s annual celebration of visual art, architecture and design. New artworks and art installations will be temporarily inserted into Calgary’s urban landscape from September 10-19, 2010.
