Event Description:

Fresh voices, vibrant music—a stellar festival of Alberta-bred talent at EPCOR CENTRE
EPCOR CENTRE is proud to present the 2010 edition of Alberta’s best and biggest festival celebrating our prolific song-writing scene—the TransCanada Alberta Music Series! Indie, rock, country, whimsy, hip hop, soul and more combine over four evenings of spectacular performances from the best talent Alberta has to offer.
This year, the TransCanada Alberta Music Series takes you into the wild blue yonder of Alberta’s musical landscape. “Each night has a different feel,” says Luka Symons, programmer of this year’s series. “We’re creating four very unique and individual evenings of performances; from swaggering soul and nitty-gritty roots to driving rock and pop-beats and even your best friend’s mix tape.”
This music is a friend-packed road trip through the prairies. This music is an all-night kegger on the back porch. This music is your soundtrack for rafting down the Bow. This music is basement jams, shabby chic, living room socials and kitchen parties. This music is for the moment you fall in love and the instant you get your heart broken.
4 nights. 6 performances per night. 24 ways to love Alberta music. Visit the website for more information.

Evening Descriptions:
The Mixtape Sessions
This is a snapshot of Alberta music right now; a look inside for those who want a taste of our delicious provincial talent. You'll hear sweeping prairie ballads, soaring foothill melodies, hushed orchestral pop, and late-night punk observations of the Everyman.
The Poprocks Sessions
Much like the candy, this is where it all meets up, snaps, crackles and goes Poprocks. This is where all influences and inspirations meet. The folk leanings, punk sway, cinematic and orchestral influences, this night is a dash of pretty, a smudge of muddy and pure candy in your brain.
The Soul Sessions
There is a swaggering confidence to this music; a night rooted in funk, rhythm, blues and beats. Expect (and chill out to) acoustic-driven soul, romantic rock with bluesy or gospel undertones, and irresistible dance beats. BYODC. (Bring Your Own Dance Card.)
The Roots Sessions
This night is gritty and delicious. Like a sand-milkshake. This night is honeyed layers with an edge. From classic folk sounds to the old timey influences of hillbilly, country and gospel to the swampy blues, the ballads and stirring stories await your ears and hearts. It’s guitars, clear voices, a fiddle, maybe even a banjo. This is music to wrap your soul in, and a fitting conclusion to our festival.
