The Canadian Art Foundation’s Reel Artists Film Festival is being presented free of charge by the Illingworth Kerr Gallery and its sponsors for the second year in a row. We’re pleased to feature some of the most exciting documentary films available today. Each provides an in-depth profile of an artist, designer or legendary art dealer to highlight the remarkable creative process. Reel Artists reveals not only formative ideas behind the creative process, but also broader insights into trends in art and design that constantly shape and redefine us as viewers. You’ll find that every individual profiled in this festival makes a unique and often surprising contribution to art and design history.

In conjunction with the second annual Reel Artists Film Festival in Calgary, filmmakers Noam Gonick and Joshua Wade will present an invaluable workshop to help participants develop narrative skills. Their current project is AMBER, a feature-length screenplay based loosely on a child abduction case. Incorporating improvisational dramaturgy, the collaborators will workshop their first draft script for AMBER with participants. They will also discuss approaches to the research and writing process when creating a film about the case.
