Event Description:

Train aficionados big and small can enjoy a full weekend of special train displays and demonstrations. Marvel at the sheer power of the double headed steam engine as it circles the Park and takes on water. Catch a rare glimpse of the turntable in action at the Roundhouse, and enjoy an exclusive ride in a caboose. Discover the significance the railway had on the development of western Canada as rail history comes to life through behind the scenes tours and special presentations in the Railway Car Shop. View the spectacular model railway exhibits and take a ride on Canadian Pacific’s adorable mini train, Puffer Belly.

On Saturday, visit the newly re-opened Canmore Opera House for a live performance by Heritage Park’s theatrical troupe titled “James and the Midnight Locomotives.” Cheer as teams compete in the Canadian Pacific Police Service Train Pull Competition for the Special Olympics on Sunday, at 2:00pm.

“The Canadian Pacific Police Service is proud to support the Special Olympics through the train pull competition,” said Ivan McClelland, Chief of the Canadian Pacific Police Service. “It is just one of the many ways our officers support the communities we help to protect every day.”

The first 500 guests who pay admission and arrive before 10:00am on both days can enjoy Heritage Park’s famous FREE pancake breakfast, served hot off the grill in Gunn’s Dairy Barn!
