As part of his 14-day cross Canada tour - including performances at the Edmonton, Vancouver, Halifax and St. John’s Jazz Festivals – Canadian saxophonist Peter Van Huffel will be presenting his new international quartet at Calgary’s Beat Niq Jazz Club on Friday, July 2nd at 9:00 pm. Peter formed this group shortly after settling in Berlin, Germany – his current city of residence – and they recently released the critically acclaimed album, “Like the Rusted Key” on Fresh Sound Records (Barcelona). The band includes New York pianist Jesse Stacken (a regular sideman of Van Huffel’s since 2002), Canadian bassist Miles Perkin and Swiss drummer Samuel Rohrer. In one short year, this group has held concerts in Germany, Belgium, Spain, Switzerland, Ireland and the Czech Republic, and they have received rave reviews for both their live performances and their recording. Their upcoming Canadian tour will be the group’s first appearance in Canada, and proves to be a musical opportunity not to be missed!
