Between Vessels by Jill Ho-You
January 11 to February 18, 2012
Opening reception: Friday, January 13th at 6:30pm
The exhibition Between Vessels addresses the notion of memory and its corporeal manifestations. The work questions the intimate relationship between our physical and psychological selves, and investigates how memory is embodied in our material being.
By contrasting the analytic, scientific views of the body with the reality of the convoluted, experienced body, Between Vessels speculates on the ways in which personal memory, emotion and cognition are expressed through our physical selves. The prints envision the body – the organs, tissues and cells – as sites where our memories and experiences are encoded without conscious recollection.
Between Vessels will be on display in the Artist Proof Gallery from January 11 to February 18, 2012, with an opening reception on Friday, Jan. 13 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. The Artist Proof Gallery is located at 2010F 11 St. SE in Calgary. Gallery hours are Wednesday to Saturday from 11:00am to 4:00pm. Admission is free and all are welcome!
