The first Morningside Music Bridge (MMB) was held in Calgary in 1996. The idea for the project came from Conservatory Director Paul Dornian and Andy Chan, a member of the Morningside Group (an international investment company) in China, who wanted to expose Canadian and Chinese students to exceptional teachers in North America thereby helping them expand their artistic and cultural horizons.
Every year since then, MMB has hosted gifted young musicians from some of the world's leading music schools to a month-long round of private lessons, masterclasses and chamber music and recitals. Today this summer training camp for piano, violin, viola and cello, aged 12 to 18, attracts students not only from China but also from Japan, Taiwan, The Netherlands, Russia, Poland — as well as from Canada and the United States.
The 14th Morningside Music Bridge international training program will be held July 2 - 30, 2010.
