Event Description:

Images of the Land traces the artistic careers of two important senior Calgary artists, Margaret Shelton (1915-1984) and Clifford Robinson (1916-1992). Curated by Anne Ewen, museum advisor and independent curator, this major survey exhibition brings together, for the first time, a large body of work by two prolific artists who were intrinsically tied to the creative development of the Calgary and Alberta art scene. Shelton and Robinson were part of the early group of Calgary print artists in the 1930s and 1940s and were major proponents of Modernism in Alberta print art.

Works are from the collections of the Glenbow Museum, the City of Calgary Civic Art Collection, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies and private lenders.

Gallery Hours: Tuesday through Friday from 11 am to 5 pm and Saturdays from noon to 4 pm. The gallery is closed Sundays, Mondays and Statutory holidays.
