The Lovebullies
Wednesday, June 16, 2010
Hummable melodies, danceable tunes, and sweet-as-syrup songs that make getting your heart broke sound as fun as falling in love for the first time. The songs are written by Caroline Connolly and/or Chantal Vitalis and feature tons of great melodies, catchy hooks, and clever wordplay while never losing focus of the inspiration gained from the vintage pop of bygone eras.
Joe Nolan
Wednesday, June 23, 2010
Every so often, a young artist arrives on the music scene and his audience instinctively knows that he is destined to contribute significantly to the rich tapestry of music and musicians that preceded him. While only 18 years old Joe Nolan's passionate song writing reflects a much older soul. He writes songs with the deftness of Neil Young, and critics compare his guitar work to the complexity and virtuosity of Bruce Cockburn. A special talent indeed!
Chris Gheran
Wednesday, July 7, 2010
Influences of Bob Dylan are obvious and Paul McCartney has certainly helped to guide the ear of the craftsman, Chris Gheran. His brand new CD release, Coup d'etat is a passionate collection of war and love, gut wrenching and heart lifting.
Ruth Purves Smith & The 581
Wednesday, July 21, 2010
Ruth's childhood rambled the prairie highways between urban and country homes. Her mother, a cultured English teacher, lived in the city, and her father and stepmother operated an antique woolen mill in Rural Alberta. This paradox is apparent in Ruth's music. While the stories may appear to be simple, traditional country, they are supported by a sound that pulls influence from the city: complicated, restless and sometimes loud.
latenite hotels
Wednesday, July 28, 2010
The latenite hotels have always embraced the seedier side of things as well as the beautiful. It is this paradigm that has shaped the band's look and sound from the very beginning. The balance of light and dark are constant themes within their music and it is this dimensional diversity that has been drawing people in from the start.

Hurricane Felix & the Southern Twisters
Wednesday, August 18, 2010
Hurricane Felix & the Southern Twisters are Calgary born-and-bred, giving them the title of Southern Alberta's Rockabilly Madmen! Once the doghouse bass starts slappin' along with the simple clean guitar licks and train shuffle drum beats, you can hear their deep rockabilly roots music unfold. But don't let this ensemble fool you- honky-tonk and blues roots also make their presence known.
