The first annual Calgary Children’s Book Fair and Conference launches this Saturday and features over 20 local children’s authors and illustrators.
The Children’s Book Fair represents a fabulous opportunity for children to meet local writers, chat with them about their work and obtain an autographed and personally inscribed book. Throughout the day, participating authors will read from their work and answer questions from the audience.
The event will feature the very first Children's Fiction Writing Award. In a recent call for entries, children in two age categories, eight to twelve and twelve to fifteen, unleashed their own incredible imaginations to create unique stories in the genres of science fiction, fantasy and mystery. The winning entries, announced on Saturday, will be published in an illustrated anthology.
The conference also provides a professional development opportunity for authors, illustrators, publishers and industry professionals with topics including character development, science fiction and fantasy writing, the art of illustration, marketing and promotion, methods of research and publishing a novel.
