To help raise funds for the 2010 National Slam! Competition, held in Ottawa in October, the Calgary Spoken Word Society has planned a benefit. Special Guest Readers include Sheri-D Wilson, playwright Eugene Stickland, poet Lori Roadhouse and local spinner DJ Sublight. There will also be a palm reader, a tarot card reader and an art auction. An open mic stands at the ready for those who wish to get on stage, in true slam style!

BACKGROUND

The Slam! phenomenon has taken hold in Calgary and the audiences continue to grow exponentially.  Hundreds of emerging poets have taken an interest in this fabulous new form.
