The Artist Proof Gallery is pleased to present Montreal artist Maria Chronopolous’s delicate and haunting exhibition, In Absentia. Inspired during a residency in 2009 at the Seacourt Printmaking Workshop in Northern Ireland, Chronopolous’s prints and installations examine mourning customs and memorial artifacts, and question the nature and physical manifestation of grief. Touching on themes of loss, meditation, death and memory, In Absentia explores meaning instilled in the creation and expression of traditional symbols and physical artifacts of mourning.
