We are super excited to present the 2nd annual SUYS - A Festival of Short Films. We are starting out with a bang! The SUYS 2010 Opening Gala at The Plaza Theatre presents famed shorts artist and animator Emily Hubley's Alberta Premiere of her debut feature film, The Toe Tactic with music by Yo La Tengo. This will screen along with the 2009 Ultra Short Film Festival, films under 30 seconds long, giving us a chance to introduce our new size category: x-small (less than one min.)!
EMMEDIA is providing expert workshops and hosting our Showcase Screening on Friday March 26th. Then off to the Plaza again on Saturday March 27th for the main event, awards--including the Golden Shorts, our Screenwriting Competition winner, and Closing Gala party! What a way to turn two!

Emily Hubley is a seasoned short film artist and animator for over 20 years, The Toe Tactic is her debut feature length film. As Artistic Director of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Hubley's whimsical signature style and honest narrative are represented throughout the film. This event is a celebration of achievement and potential for short film artists.

The 2nd Annual SUYS Showcase at EMMEDIA features 11 short films in sizes small, medium, and large from around the country and globe for 2010. Including the North American Premiere of experimental Czech Republic short film "...Kde Jsme? or ...Where Are We?" and internationally award winning Director and Cinematographer, Christopher Ball's short film music video "Watchmaker - Tom Fun Orchestra" Plus a whole lot more!

The 2nd Annual Show Us Your Shorts - A Festival of Short Films presents our SUYS 2010 Official Awards and Nominee Selections!!
With over 120 films submitted for SUYS 2010, 14 films were selected to screen at the Plaza Theatre on March 27th, 2010. This films are also nominated to receive recognition through awards and prizes.
The following awards will be announced presented: Best Size X-Small, Small, Medium, and Large; Best Narrative, Best Craft, Most Innovative, Audience Favourite, Grand Jury Prize "Golden Shorts", and the SUYS 2010 Screenwriting competition winner; the winner of this award will have their screenplay produced for Sled Island Film 2010, as part of Sled Island Festival.
